Job Title: Animal Assistant (Dog Walking/Pet Care) Location:** Colo Vale to Bundanoon Employment Type:** Permanent part time (24 hours) – Including weekend work Salary: Negotiable based on experience & skills. Are you a passionate animal lover with experience in the pet care industry? We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as an Animal Assistant on a permanent part time basis. This role focuses on dog walking and pet care for all kinds of pets. About the role This role provides the opportunity to work with a variety of pets, providing quality care and support. You will be visiting pets in their usual environments to either pick them up for a dog walk or to provide care in their own homes, creating a safe, secure and familiar environment for them. The role is rostered as shifts across 7 days a week with the availability for overnight care visits as well. You must be comfortable working with a range of animals, a range of sizes and with a variety of temperaments. This role is ideal for people who want meaningful, hands-on work with animals in a supportive, low-stress environment. If you enjoy variety, independence and working directly with animals, you’ll feel right at home in this role. We are ideally looking for someone with availability Monday to Thursday or Tuesday to Friday to cover day time shifts, with the potential for weekend shifts as required. Main Responsibilities
· Coordinate and perform daily routines for animals including feeding, watering, grooming, and exercise.
· Support our popular Dogs Day Out Adventures (managing small group dog excursions)
· Cleaning enclosures, bedding and equipment.
· Provide quality customer service, including handling drop-offs and pick-ups.
· Monitor animal health and behaviour, promptly reporting any concerns to the supervisor.
· Maintain clean and sanitary animal living spaces, ensuring adherence to workplace health and safety policies and procedures.
· Handle administrative duties such as providing carer updates, taking photos of client’s pets and responding to inquiries
· Ability to work with cats, dogs, horses, poultry, rodents and more.
· Other tasks as required by the management team. Role requirements To be considered for this role, applicants must:
· Have previous experience in the animal industry . Experience must include paid or volunteer work in skilled pet care, animal handling, veterinary, shelter, or equine environment.
· Be confident managing dogs with reactivity, fear-based behaviours, and able to follow structured handling protocols.and
· Be relatively fit, as the role involves physical activity and handling animals of varying sizes.
· Strong time management and communication skills are a must.
· Must have your own car and a valid driver's license of P plates or higher (we provide mileage reimbursement)
· Be willing to obtain a police check (as a requirement of the role).
· Availability to work on weekends, public holidays (including Christmas, Easter and school holidays) and overnight stays.
