The Graduate School of Medicine’s (GSM) purpose is to improve health and wellbeing through best practice medical education and meaningful research. This will be achieved through:
- Commitment to graduate excellent medical practitioners who have the capacity and desire to contribute to the enhancement of health care of persons in all geographic settings, but particularly in regional, rural and remote communities.
- Commitment to the health and population of regional and rural areas, including addressing health inequities.
- Building strong and enduring community partnerships using a strengths-based approach.
- Commitment to supporting Indigenous-led health and wellbeing research that responds to needs and priorities of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
- Enhancement of physical and mental health and social wellbeing and to help communities to thrive.

The medical curriculum covers a diversity of content, encompassing biological and social sciences, clinical medicine, law, ethics, research and critical analysis, and personal and professional development. This provides a variety of opportunities for involvement in curriculum delivery for academic staff working alone and in interdisciplinary teams. The Doctor of Medicine (MD) program is delivered primarily on campuses located in Wollongong, Shoalhaven and Southern Highlands, as well as in numerous rural sites throughout NSW.
**About the role**: We are seeking an experienced Administrative Assistant to join our team and support the UOW Medical Program in the Southern Highlands region. In this role, you will provide essential administrative support to both academic and professional staff, as well as assist with operations at the GSM office and the student accommodation facility in the region. You will also offer valuable backup to the Placement Facilitator: Southern Highlands Hub, helping coordinate medical student clinical placements at local hospitals, medical practices, and community health facilities in the region.
**About you**: You will be suitably qualified with relevant work experience, or have an equivalent combination of experience and/or education and training. You’ll have strong skills in the Microsoft Office suite and a passion for customer service, along with the ability to communicate professionally, effectively, and with sensitivity to a wide range of people. You’ll also bring excellent organisational and administrative skills, with an attention to detail in written communication. Your ability to take initiative and work independently in a fast-paced and changing environment is essential. Previous experience working with medical professionals or in healthcare is a plus, but not essential. We’re excited to welcome someone with a desire to continually improve and has the ability to contribute to positive and cooperative team environment.
