Our team is dedicated to supporting each other to reach their full potential while ensuring patients remain involved in decisions about their care.Perioperative Services encompasses the Operating Rooms, Post Anaesthesia Care Unit (PACU), Day Surgery Unit (DSU), Pre‑Admission Clinic (PAC) and the Clinical Sterilising Department (CSD). Together, these units work cohesively to support safe, efficient and patient‑centred surgical care.We are seeking an enthusiastic and suitably experienced individual to join our Perioperative Team as an Operating Theatre Assistant. This role is essential to the smooth and safe delivery of surgical services, providing reliable, high‑quality support to nursing and medical staff through a range of non‑clinical functions.Overall responsibilities include:
- Preparing theatre equipment — ensuring operating rooms are set up safely with functional instruments, devices and resources- Transporting patients, specimens and equipment throughout the perioperative environment in a timely and safe manner- Assisting with patient transfer, positioning and physical support under the direction of nursing and medical staff- Maintaining cleanliness and environmental hygiene including cleaning floors, furniture, equipment, and removing soiled linen and waste- Restocking and maintaining supplies to ensure safe, organised and hygienic conditions across the operating suiteAre You the Right Fit?We are looking for someone who brings enthusiasm, reliability and a genuine commitment to supporting safe, high‑quality surgical care. - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to support effective collaboration across multidisciplinary teams- Ability to work both independently and within a team in a fast‑paced, high‑acuity environment- Moderate to high level of physical fitness to safely undertake manual handling and patient‑support tasks- Strong patient and customer service focus with a compassionate, respectful approach- Availability to work a rotating 7‑day roster including a range of shift timesSelection CriteriaTo help us assess your suitability for the role, please tell us as much as you can about yourself in response to the questions below.
