Multiple vacancies are available across Police Communications Centres that include, Brisbane, Beenleigh and Toowoomba. Multi week, tiered training for these positions will occur at Police Headquarters in Brisbane commencing August 2026. Step into a role where every second counts and every decision matters. As a Communications Operator, you will:
- Answer emergency Triple Zero (000) calls
- Be the first voice people hear in a crisis.
- Manage police radio dispatch duties
- Coordinate resources for rapid response.
- Prioritise officer and public safety
- Every decision matters.
- Assess and manage risk factors
- Make critical judgments under pressure.
- Provide reassurance to distressed callers
- Help them feel safe and supported.
- Operate advanced communication systems
- Enable life-saving actions.
- Operate in a 24/7, year-round shift setting. This role requires 24-hour rotational shift work, including afternoons, nights, weekends and public holidays, with penalty rates applied on top of your base wage

- Strong questioning and listening skills to make sound decisions under pressure.
- Confidence to think on your feet and make critical decisions.
