Overview

We are recruiting for a permanent and temporary positions in the Library’s Information and Client Services role, responsible for delivering information services to visitors and clients onsite and online. The role involves working across service points in the State Reference Library, the John Oxley Library, and via phone and online channels, providing guidance to clients accessing State Library collections and services.

Employment Details

Permanent part‑time (Sunday, Monday and Tuesday) and two fixed‑term temporary part‑time roles (Sunday, Monday and Wednesday or Thursday, Friday and Saturday) with a commitment to evening, weekend and public holiday work. State Library services clients 7 days per week.

Responsibilities

Providing exceptional client service through guided access to collections, responding to research requests via the Ask a Librarian service, supporting public programming, developing learning resources, creating web content and blogs, and connecting clients with references and resources.

Expected Qualifications

Relevant degree and eligibility for qualified membership of the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA). Demonstrated technical skills to assist a diverse client base. Ability to effectively search, navigate and assist in the use of State Library resources. Experience delivering research and information services in a library setting. Ability to design and deliver training programs and learning resources. Proven capability to manage competing priorities. Pre‑existing experience with heritage collections highly desirable.
