ATSICHS Brisbane is a member of the Institute for Urban Indigenous Health (IUIH). As a key member of the ATSICHS Brisbane team, the ATSICHS Dental Assistant provides chairside assistance to dentists and oral health professionals, ensuring high-quality patient care and efficient dental procedures. This role supports infection control protocols, prepares treatment rooms, manages patient records, and delivers a positive patient experience. Additionally, the Dental Assistant is responsible for providing culturally safe and responsive care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients, ensuring their health needs are met in a respectful and inclusive manner. Duties Assist dentists during procedures, pass instruments, and prepare materials. Maintain sterilization of instruments and ensure compliance with infection control protocols. Support patients before, during, and after procedures; provide post-treatment instructions. Provide culturally protected and respectful care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients. Monitor and maintain supplies (inventory), ensure the treatment room is clean and ready. Update patient records, assist with appointment scheduling. Base Salary of $64,730 per annum Pro rata (Based on qualification and experience). 12% Super + access to salary packaging (Increases your take home pay). Permanent Part Time position. Work for a leading Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, community-controlled organisation. COVID-19 Requirement Immunisation history showing you have received two doses of a Covid-19 vaccine is encouraged. Desired Skills and Experience Required Certificate III or IV in Dental Assisting (or working towards completion). 2 years + experience working in a dental clinic or healthcare environment. Knowledge of infection control protocols and sterilisation procedures. National Police Certificate. Working with Children's Blue Card. Evidence of Work Rights. Flexibility in task performance and work location (dental surgery). Preferred Experience in a community health or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health setting. Knowledge of Medicare, Child Dental Benefits Schedule, and private health fund processing. Ability to assist with administrative tasks such as appointment scheduling and patient recalls.
