Senior Electronics Engineer for Research Lab & Prototyping …, Brisbane

Overview Full‑time, fixed‑term position for up to 3 years at the Queensland Brain Institute, St Lucia Campus.

Base salary ranges from $104,616 – $113,920 (HEW Level 7) plus 17 % superannuation.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop and manufacture specialised electronic equipment, PCBs, prototypes and research‑focused engineering systems.

Collaborate closely with researchers and support staff to deliver end‑to‑end “design and build” solutions that meet complex experimental needs.

Conduct advanced simulations, feasibility studies and cost calculations.

Provide fault‑finding and repair services for laboratory equipment.

Maintain a safe, compliant and high‑functioning electronic workshop, overseeing tools, equipment, risk assessments and safe operating procedures.

About You

Completion of a postgraduate qualification in electronics or a related field, or equivalent experience and training.

Demonstrated expertise in PCB manufacture, electronic components, hand soldering and surface‑mount soldering.

Advanced knowledge of design and manufacture of electronic equipment, including firmware development for embedded processors.

Ability to manage, mentor and develop technical staff within a research or laboratory environment.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to produce clear technical documentation and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.

High level of organisation, attention to detail and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
