Building Surveyor Level 2/3 (Brisbane)

We're growing, and we need a Building Surveyor who's done enough of the big city grind to know there's a better way to do the job. This isn't a compromise role in a compromise location. We need a Building Surveyor who wants real responsibility, a direct client relationship, and a career that doesn't require a 90-minute commute to the office. This is a hands-on role at an experienced, respected firm. You'll work across the full approval lifecycle
- assessing applications, issuing approvals, conducting stage inspections, and advising clients at every step. You won't be waiting for someone above you to give you the meaningful work. It comes with the role. What you'll be doing
- Assessing and issuing building approvals across your relevant licence project classes
- Conducting on-site stage inspections at critical construction milestones
- Reviewing plans and specifications for compliance with the NCC, Queensland Development Code, and Building Act 1975
- Providing preliminary design advice and pre-lodgement consultancy to builders, architects, and designers
- Preparing and issuing inspection certificates and final certificates
- Liaising with Rockhampton Regional Council, Livingstone Shire, and other referral agencies
- Supporting building compliance audits, including fire safety and disability access assessments
- Mentoring cadet team members as the practice grows What we're looking for
- Current QBCC Building Certifier licence — Level 2 or 3 (or equivalent interstate — mutual recognition applies)
- AIBS accreditation
- Solid working knowledge of the NCC, Building Act 1975, and Queensland Development Code & Town Planning procedure
- Experience across multiple building classes — residential experience essential; commercial or industrial highly regarded
- Strong client communication skills — you deal with nervous owner-builders and experienced developers alike
