Queensland is launching a major current initiative – theQueensland Quantum Decarbonisation Alliance – to apply quantum technologies, particularly quantum computing and quantum sensing, to the challenge of reaching net zero.

The Alliance is pursuing applications such as quantum algorithms for battery design and carbon sequestration materials, and quantum sensors for locating and extracting critical minerals more efficiently. Founding partners include the University of Queensland, Griffith University, PsiQuantum, and CSIRO, alongside more than twenty stakeholders spanning academia, the quantum sector, carbon-intensive industries, and the decarbonisation ecosystem.

We’re currently recruiting a senior research fellow (Level C) for a fixed, four year position at the Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology at the University of Queensland. We seek applicants with expertise in most of quantum algorithms, quantum sensing, quantum material, quantum chemistry, molecular dynamics, and quantum condensed matter physics. Applicants should have a robust interest in applying their work to real-world decarbonisation challenges.
