Role Profile bJob title: Plating Process Engineer bGeographical scope: Thailand bReports to: Manager Process Engineer bLocation: Gemopolis / Lamphun bDepartment & team: Production Engineering bManagerial Responsibility: Y bMain purpose of the role: To support process quality control, define root causes and solutions to maintain or improve production process and product quality, seek improvements for cost optimisation, and maintain high-quality manufacturing after new technology implementation. Key Accountabilities bProcess Optimization:
- Analyze existing production processes and identify opportunities for optimisation, cost reduction, and efficiency improvement with long‑term solutions and safe manufacturing systems.
- Develop and design efficient and effective manufacturing processes that meet required product specifications and quality standards. bRisk Mitigation:
- Collaborate and implement FMEA methodologies to assess and prioritise risks in the production line with cross‑functional teams.
- Conduct thorough analyses of jewellery production processes, identifying potential failure modes and weaknesses. bQuality:
- Implement and enforce quality control measures to maintain and improve the highest standards of craftsmanship and product quality.
- Identify and resolve any issues or challenges related to the manufacturing process (including RCI/RMA).
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence of problems. bInnovation:
- Stay abreast of new technologies and methodologies that can enhance process efficiency.
- Integrate innovative technologies into existing processes where applicable.
- Maintain quality control measures to ensure the highest standards of new technologies and innovations in the production process, such as automation and other advancements, to maintain efficiency and precision. bMaterial Selection and Testing:
- Collaborate with materials specialists to evaluate, select, and test materials used in the jewellery production process to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Conduct the special tasks assigned, such as working with vendors and internal resources to determine cost‑effective solutions without compromising quality and safety of new supply materials, second‑source materials, and equipment, before implementing them in the production line. bCollaboration with Cross‑functional Teams:
- Work closely with I&PD;, production, pre‑production maintenance, quality surveillance & improvement and manufacturing quality control teams to ensure seamless collaboration, communication and integration throughout the jewellery manufacturing process. bContinuous Improvement:
- Proactively identify areas for improvement and develop strategies for continuous process enhancement, cost reduction, increased productivity, lead time reduction, FROT, and waste minimisation.
- Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and advancements in process engineering. bTraining and Development:
- Maintain and improve quality control guidance for production staff on new processes, equipment, and technologies to ensure a skilled and adaptable workforce.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance skills and knowledge. bData Analysis and Documentation:
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of processes, procedures, changes and improvements for reference and compliance purposes. bCost‑Efficiency Enhancement:
- Evaluate and propose initiatives to optimise operational processes, aiming at reducing operational costs while maintaining or improving product quality. bSafety and Environmental Compliance:
- Develop and implement strategies to minimise the environmental impact of manufacturing processes.
- Ensure that processes adhere to safety regulations and environmental standards. KPIs bPlant KPI
- Percentage increase in overall production efficiency (Productivity).
- Reduce defect rate, scrap rate, and rework rate (%S&R;).
- Control cost per unit.
- Number of non‑compliance and safety incidents (Safety).

- Percentage reduction in operational costs (Cost saving).
- Number of successful process innovations implemented (Improvement project/Kaizen/Lean/Six sigma).

- Collaborate with management to identify and justify capital expenditure needs related to process improvements, new technologies, or equipment upgrades.
- Analyse the benefits and side impacts in terms of CAPEX and OPEX for every improvement project before implementation. Key Stakeholders bInternal
- I&PD;, FM, Quality, Finance, Supply chain, Production, Pre‑production bExternal:
- All cross‑functional partners and suppliers. Candidate Description bEducational Background:
- Diploma’s degree or higher in Production. bField of Study (Preferred):
- Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Chemistry Engineering or related field (for plating engineer). bPivotal and Professional Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in manufacturing, production, process engineer position.
- For plating plant, require experience in chemical or electroplating. bPersonal Competencies (Plating Process Applicable):
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving capability with structured methodologies (Root Cause Analysis, Design of Experiment, Statistical Analysis) applied to electroplating processes.
- In‑depth understanding of electroplating principles.
- Proven ability to control and optimise plating parameters to ensure consistent coating quality.
- Experience in thickness control and uniformity improvement, including rack design, shielding, and process optimisation.
- Strong knowledge in defect analysis and troubleshooting such as burning, pitting, peeling, roughness, and discoloration.
- Capability to monitor and improve process efficiency and metal utilisation, including drag‑out reduction and plating efficiency.
- Understanding of bath chemistry control, contamination management, and corrective actions for maintaining stable operation.
- Proficiency in data‑driven process control, including XRF thickness analysis. bPersonal Competencies:
- Technical competency in analytical, problem‑solving skills, process management, change management and advanced statistical techniques is a plus.
- Experience in continuous improvement (Lean master or Six sigma belt certification preferred).
- Strong to appropriately apply analysis and statistical tools to solve problems.
- Computer skills: Microsoft Office, Minitab (Statistical) and Power BI.
- Good written and spoken English.
- Excellent organisational and time‑management abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team and lead cross‑functional initiatives.
- Solid to effectively prioritise and execute multitasks while under pressure. bComputer Skills:
- MS Office, Minitab and Power BI. bLanguage Skills:
- Good English communication and writing. bOther Skills:
- OHSE, ISO. bTravel Required:
