Description
Role Purpose State Operations provides a diverse range of shared organisational and specialist capabilities to the QFD's frontline services to enhance cooperation and collaboration across QFD operations. The QFD Fire Communications Branch manages and coordinates frontline communication services by administering and delivering operational communications capabilities that benefit the Queensland community and the department. Key Responsibilities Provide strategic leadership and direction on the development of public safety communications strategies to build capacity and preparedness of the fire and emergency services sector. Lead QFD Fire Communications in managing change and identifying opportunities for innovation and improved service delivery. Implement strategies and provide expert advice to ensure alignment and unification of communication centre operational capabilities with business goals, national and state‐wide plans, and legislation. Represent QFD and be the primary delegate on national committees and stakeholder groups to prioritise the department's interests and outcomes. Manage, review and respond to a range of high‐level departmental and ministerial correspondence, briefs and fire communication issues and initiatives in accordance with departmental requirements and governance. Maintain a high‐level knowledge of developments in triple‐zero call‐taking setting and communication platforms, and provide expert advice and implementation of recommendations to the Assistant Commissioner and Fire Communications personnel. Lead and manage a multi‐disciplinary team, fostering teamwork and managing human, financial and physical resources to achieve service performance and drive a culture of accountability and fairness. Qualifications Current valid Blue Card. Experience in leading emergency service triple‐zero operational communications centres. Operational qualifications relevant to an emergency service triple‐zero operational communications centre (e.g., Certificate III or Certificate IV in Public Safety (Emergency Communications Centre Operations) or equivalent). Tertiary qualifications in Leadership and/or Business Management or related discipline are highly regarded. Key Accountabilities Strategic leadership and direction on public safety communications. Change management and innovation in service delivery. Alignment and unification of operational capabilities with business goals. Representation on national committees and stakeholder groups. Governance of high‐level departmental and ministerial correspondence. Expertise in triple‐zero call‐taking environment. Team leadership and resource management.
