- Natural Hazard Claims & Assessing Brisbane, QLD Permanent Full-Time About The Role We're looking for an experienced Building Technical Advisor to join our Natural Hazard Claims and Assessing team. In this role, you'll play a critical part in ensuring technical excellence, compliance, and quality across property repairs within the insurance sector. As a trusted expert, you'll provide specialist advice and hands-on support to Claims Managers, Assessors, and Repairers—helping to deliver accurate scoping, effective repair solutions, and outstanding customer outcomes. What You'll Be Doing Technical Excellence & Claims Support Provide expert building advice on complex repair and rectification works Review scopes, quotes, and specialist reports to ensure accuracy, compliance, and value Conduct on-site inspections and quality audits of repairs and rebuilds Work alongside engineers, geotechnical experts, and other specialists to assess damage and determine root causes Support project management of complex repairs Stakeholder & Customer Engagement Deliver exceptional service to customers and stakeholders, aligned with service excellence principles Communicate clear, practical, and accurate technical guidance Support the resolution of building-related complaints and disputes Build strong relationships with internal teams and external partners including builders, suppliers, and specialists Risk, Compliance & Continuous Improvement Ensure compliance with the National Construction Code (NCC), Building Code of Australia (BCA), and relevant Australian Standards Identify risks early and contribute to effective claim outcomes Provide insights to improve processes, repair outcomes, and cost controls Assist with training and capability uplift across repair networks Team Contribution Support major event response and catastrophe activity Share trends, insights, and expertise with the wider team Actively contribute to a positive, secure, and high-performing team culture About You Trade qualification in a building/repair-related discipline (mandatory) Current or expired builder's licence (mandatory) Experience 10+ years' experience in residential construction/renovation (essential) Strong background in estimating, scheduling, and supervising repairs Deep knowledge of residential building codes and repair practices Experience within insurance or property repair industries (highly regarded) Skills & Capabilities Strong technical expertise in building codes, repairs, and estimating Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complex information Proven stakeholder engagement and relationship-building capability Advanced problem-solving and negotiation skills High level of organisation, time management, and adaptability A proactive, resilient mindset with a focus on continuous improvement Why Join Us?
