Working within WSP’s Generation&New Energy team, you’ll apply your expertise across thermal and renewable energy projects, supporting both established and emerging generation technologies. You’ll collaborate with highly skilled engineers and work closely with clients to assess, design, and implement next‑generation energy solutions. This roleoffers strong technical depth, exposure to complex systems, and the opportunity to contribute to Australia’s evolving energy landscape.What you’ll do
In this role, you will: Apply your power industry experience across renewable generation, gas turbines (OCGT/CCGT), coal‑fired and hydro power stations Support the design and delivery of control and instrumentation systems (PLC, DCS), functional safety systems (AS 61511), and EEHA‑compliant designsContribute to control, protection, and communication system architectures using industrial protocols such as Modbus, DNP3, Ethernet/IP, OPC, and IEC 61850 Work closely with electrical engineers on secondary systems, including protection and excitation systems Perform electrical engineering analysis and ensure compliance with Australian Standards and legislative requirementsEnsure alignment with WSP quality systems, technical governance, and client expectations Support project planning, cost and schedule management, and proactive risk mitigation Maintain strong professional networks and contribute to client engagement and satisfaction Comply with all role‑specific SHEQ obligationsAbout You
You will bring: A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent Progression towards Chartered Engineer (CPEng) and professional registration (RPEQ, RPEV) Technical expertise in the design and delivery of control and instrumentation systems Functional Safety Assessment (FSA) experience with relevant accreditation (essential)Demonstrated experience across thermal and renewable power generation projects A strong track record delivering complex consultancy projects Solid understanding of safety in design, risk management, QA and OH&S systems Strong capability in technical reporting, stakeholder engagement, and mentoring Why Choose WSP?
