Once you're in, there's no limits on where your career could take you. The Role This is a dual-property role covering two distinct operating environments. At George Hotel, you'll be hands-on and on the tools every day
- this is a lean operation with no dedicated maintenance team, so you'll be the one getting things done. At Kennigo, you'll step into an oversight capacity, supervising two casual handymen and ensuring all compliance, servicing and contractual obligations are booked, tracked and completed. It's a role for someone who's equally comfortable holding a wrench and managing a maintenance schedule
- with the initiative to work independently across both properties. Key Responsibilities
- At George Hotel, perform hands-on routine, preventive, corrective and emergency maintenance across the full property
- including painting, plumbing, electrical, carpentry and general repairs.
- At Kennigo, oversee two casual handymen, ensuring work is prioritised and completed to standard, and that all compliance obligations are scheduled and met.
- Maintain BWOF, compliance schedules, fire damper registers and all required regulatory documentation across both properties.
- Manage all contractor and service agreements to keep plant and equipment in optimal operational condition.
- Develop and enforce routine maintenance checklists, review logs regularly, and identify ways to reduce repetitive issues.
- Assist the General Manager in developing the annual R&M; budget; control departmental expenses and flag any potential overruns early.
- Respond promptly to inter-departmental and guest requests for repairs and assistance, prioritising effectively across both sites.
- Roster, develop and support the Kennigo maintenance team; track training, build capability and keep morale high. What You'll Bring
- Deep knowledge of hotel compliance requirements
- BWOF, fire systems, building warrants, contractor management and statutory obligations. This is the non-negotiable foundation of the role.
- Broad practical trade or maintenance skills
- you're genuinely comfortable being on the tools daily at George Hotel.
- Experience managing preventive maintenance programs, compliance schedules and service contractor relationships across a property or portfolio.
- Ability to work autonomously and manage priorities across multiple sites without close supervision.
- Strong organisational skills
- you keep records tight, schedules accurate and nothing slips through the cracks.
- People leadership experience, even in a small team context.
- Sound knowledge of WH&S; obligations and relevant safety legislation.
- Physically fit and ready for a hands-on, labour-intensive role. How You Work
