Description
About Mytra We’re creating an entirely new way to solve the most ubiquitous problem in industry – moving and storing material. We’re applying robotics and distributed software to create a new class of product for this $1T market. We’re focused on the supply chain industry first. The industry is in a massive bind with the continued growth of e-commerce, sharp rise in costs, and supply chain disruptions. What has been a "sleepy" industry for decades is now at the epicenter of sustaining the global economy. About The Role As an Engineering Technician II at Mytra, you will join our Bot Prototype team at a pivotal moment: we’re carrying learnings from our Gen 3 Prototype Builds into early stage production, solving new design challenges, and meeting tighter schedules. Our team builds, maintains and repairs our fleet of prototype Bots, subassemblies, and test assets so Engineering can validate designs quickly, and we need a hands‑on, adaptable technician to help us own builds end‑to‑end while priorities, designs, and parts availability shift around us. This is not a role for someone who wants to drive the same bolt every day. Designs change mid‑build, parts arrive with quality issues that block progress, and priorities shift week to week. The strongest candidates will be energized by that environment and excited to contribute directly to the growth and development of our product. What You’ll Do
- Own prototype mechanical assembly and wire harness build‑up on bots, subassemblies, and test assets from start to finish. Work from drawings, BOMs, or verbal direction, often with evolving designs, ambiguity and first‑article quality issues.
- Perform routine maintenance, repair and rework on bots for our in‑house testing system and field‑returned subassemblies (RMA), troubleshooting common electro‑mechanical failures and escalating when issues exceed scope.
- Surface actionable build feedback to Design Engineering through a structured ticketing system, helping shape future revisions toward easier assembly, manufacturability, and serviceability.
- Use machine and shop tools (drill press, band saw, chop saw, grinders, rotary tools) to cut, modify and rework mechanical parts as builds require.
- Support validation and bring‑up procedures on bot hardware under engineer direction, capturing data and reporting results back cleanly.
- Contribute to a safe, clean, organized, and well‑equipped lab and shop environment, and support onboarding of future team members as the team scales. Ideal Candidates
- Have proven experience with electro‑mechanical hardware in prototype or rapid‑iterative environments. Comfortable with mechanical assembly, fastener/torque selection, and shop tool use.
- Can read and navigate drawings and 3D models, interpret metric/imperial tolerances, and identify revision deltas between builds.
- Have solid harnessing fundamentals: wire soldering, connector crimping, cable management, and reading electrical schematics.
- Thrive on changing priorities: recover quickly from blocked builds, pivot to the next productive task without prompting, and keep momentum when the plan changes.
- Demonstrate clear communication and constructive dissent, share updates proactively, ask precise questions, and raise risks early with respect for the team.
- Are comfortable in an industrial environment working on heavy equipment, and consistently follow PPE and shop safety practices without being asked.
- Can operate independently on routine work using standard procedures, and know when to escalate.
- Are genuinely excited about robotics and the build/break/fix/prototype cycle — and want to grow into more responsibility over time. Nice to Have
- Experience with PCB soldering and board rework.
- Comfort with terminal/SSH and command‑line tools.
- Experience operating manual mills, lathes, or other machine tools (Bridgeport experience a plus).
- Onshape familiarity (or comparable 3D CAD experience; we’ll give you time to ramp).
- Forklift and/or personnel lift certification.
- Exposure to PLM/ERP systems (Arena, NetSuite), ticketing and project management tools (Linear, JIRA) and dashboarding tools (Grafana). Career Growth Bot Prototype is a high‑leverage seat. You’ll work shoulder‑to‑shoulder with Design, Systems, and Test Engineering, and the hands‑on knowledge you build here translates directly into paths in manufacturing engineering, design, sustainment, or deeper technical specialization on the bot platform. As a company, we hold formal performance reviews twice a year, and we expect strong performers in this role to be on track toward promotion as the team and company continue to scale. Benefits Include
- Competitive compensation and equity grants at a high‑growth company backed by top‑tier VCs.
- Fully subsidized health coverage, including medical (baseline plans), dental, and vision for employees and dependents.
- 401(k) plans and employer‑subsidized life insurance.
- Fully subsidized lunch and snacks at HQ.
- Generous PTO and company‑paid holidays, including one week over the winter break.
- Voluntary pet insurance, Voluntary Life Insurance, Accident, Critical Illness, and Hospital Indemnity.
- Fully subsidized tax advisory services and education to help you understand your equity.
- Commuter benefits, including a up to $150 monthly commuter benefit.
- Lively, modern combined office and lab space where we rapidly iterate through design, build, and test phases.
- Fully equipped onsite gym and showers at headquarters. Pay Notice Compensation for this position will be set based on the candidate's experience level and location. The posted salary band is applicable only to the San Francisco Bay Area and is subject to change. On‑site presence: This role requires on‑site presence at our Brisbane, CA headquarters, for close collaboration with the other teams.
