Procurement Lead: Projects & Supplier Strategy (Brisbane)

Monadelphous are seeking an experienced and motivated Procurement Lead to join our PNG Operations team on a fixed‑term basis, based in our Brisbane Head Office. Periodic short visits to site in Papua New Guinea will be required. In this role, you will be responsible for leading procurement activities across multiple projects, supporting project delivery teams through effective sourcing, expediting, and supplier management. You will have demonstrated experience leading buyers and expeditors, coordinating procurement strategies, and managing vendor performance within the resources sector. You will work closely with project, engineering, commercial, logistics, and construction stakeholders to ensure materials and services are delivered safely, on time, and within budget. Strong communication skills, commercial awareness, and a proactive leadership style are essential for success in this role. Key responsibilities and requirements of the role include:
- Lead and manage procurement activities and subcontract engagement
- Directly manage and mentor procurement personnel
- Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with project and business requirements
- Manage procurement and material status reports
- Manage supplier relationships, negotiations, contract awards, and performance
- Ensure procurement activities comply with company procedures, ethical standards, and HSE requirements
- Oversee expediting, logistics, and delivery schedules to meet project timelines
- Collaborate closely with project execution, engineering, construction, and commercial teams
- Support forecasting, cost control, and change management processes
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across procurement and supply chain activities
- Adapt to changing project priorities and operational requirements What you will bring:
- 5-10 years’ experience in procurement or supply chain roles within the resources sector
- Proven experience leading procurement teams, including buyers and expeditors
- Strong understanding of procurement commercials, contracts, and supplier negotiations
- Experience supporting construction or project delivery environments
- Previous Papua New Guinea experience (highly regarded)
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
- Robust stakeholder engagement and relationship-building capabilities
- Demonstrated ability to drive team performance and accountability
