About the Project – Recent Toowoomba Hospital John Holland is partnering with the Queensland Government to deliver a new Toowoomba Hospital, a key pillar of the Queensland Health and Hospitals Plan. The project will deliver new hospital facilities on the 75-hectare Baillie Henderson Hospital campus, adding capacity to the existing Toowoomba Base Hospital. The recent state‑of‑the‑art facility will provide expanded healthcare services to the Darling Downs region and reduce the need for patients to travel outside the region for specialist care. About the Position – Site Engineer Building (Fit Out) Provide on‑site engineering services and technical support to ensure short‑term planning and programming of works is completed in conjunction with site supervision staff. Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance of the works with technical specifications, applicable legislation, approvals and standards and JHG SQE Risk Management process
- Conduct and administer overall job planning and programming including short-range and intermediate activities for construction projects for approval by the Project Manager
- Input information and undertake minor design on site and monitor and recommend changes to design details to increase the ease of construction
- Exercise professional judgement in resolving engineering issues, i.e. construction methods, design, engineering procedures, etc.
- Demonstrate financial management skills including behaviour in reducing costs and meeting budgets
- Verify subcontractors' claims and variations
- Undertake cost controlling and estimating as required by the Site Manager; maintain drawing register controls for the project
- Implement and communicate risk controls and actions involved in delivery and implementation of projects
- Demonstrate skills in reporting on project performance, compliance and defects and/or non-conformance
- Undertake quantitative and qualitative safety, environment and quality risk assessment to ensure acceptable quality of structures and finishes Key Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, Building Construction, Construction Management or equivalent
- Minimum 2–4 years' post-graduation engineering experience, ideally gained with a tier 1 or large tier 2 contractor
- Building sector experience mandatory; previous health/hospital experience highly advantageous but not essential
- Construction management and specific technical skills base in fit-out ideal
- Wide level of planning, development and review of complex projects
- Implementation of a process and/or product system of audits and schedules
- Skill in use of document and record management, progress and project performance reporting compliance and procedures Benefits
