We now have an exciting opportunity available for Engineering Manager – Gas Powered Generation (GPG) to join us in our Infrastructure Engineering team in Brisbane, QLD or Sydney, NSW on a Permanent Full-Time basis.

Reporting to the Head of GPG Engineering Solutions, you will play a key role in leading the engineering lifecycle across your assigned portfolio, ensuring GPG projects are developed and delivered to achieve fit-for-purpose technical solutions that meet APA and customer requirements. You will provide technical leadership to drive quality, compliance and alignment with project objectives, while mentoring and supporting the development of the engineering team.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead technical input into origination and early-stage development, including opportunity screening, site selection, concept definition, and technology assessment for gas-powered generation projects.
- Provide engineering leadership across the full project lifecycle, from feasibility and FEED through to review of detailed design (contractor-led), construction support, commissioning, and operational integration.
- Lead the technical aspects of key supply and construct agreements, ensuring optimal technical and commercial outcomes across design, engineering, equipment selection, construction interfaces, and connection scopes.
- Manage engineering interfaces and oversee deliverables from consultants, Owners’ Engineers (OE), OEMs, vendors, and contractors within complex multi-contract project environments.
- Prepare, review and oversee engineering documentation including specifications, datasheets, technical reports, drawings and design deliverables.
- Support commercial and project development activities through technical input into business cases, contract negotiations, risk assessments, and vendor evaluations.

Your background

- Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, enabling eligibility for corporate membership with Engineers Australia or equivalent professional body.
- Demonstrated experience across early-stage development, design and delivery of gas-fired power generation projects, ideally within an Owners’ Engineer, EPC, or infrastructure delivery environment.
- Strong technical judgement, with the ability to balance risk, cost, performance and schedule considerations.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering activities across complex infrastructure or energy projects.
- Working knowledge of Australian Standards, applicable international standards, and relevant environmental, health, and safety legislation.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical, operational, and commercial teams.
- Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng), Registered Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ), or eligibility to obtain registration within 12 months.
