- 25 May 2026 > 22 Jun 2026 Summary Our client Cafe Brio, located in South Brighton, South Australia, is seeking to add a skilled Chef to support its kitchen operations and continue delivering high quality dining experiences to customers. The successful candidate will play an important role in menu preparation, food presentation, kitchen coordination and maintaining strong food safety standards within a busy hospitality environment. The typical job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
- Plan and prepare high quality meals in accordance with established kitchen standards
- Monitor food preparation and presentation to maintain consistent quality and portion control
- Coordinate daily kitchen operations during busy breakfast, lunch and dinner service periods
- Prepare and cook menu items efficiently within required service timeframes
- Assist with menu planning and seasonal food selection recommendations
- Estimate food requirements and manage kitchen stock ordering processes
- Inspect ingredients and finished dishes to maintain freshness and presentation standards
- Maintain strict food safety, hygiene and workplace cleanliness procedures
- Train new kitchen staff in food preparation and safe kitchen practices
- Work closely with management and front-of-house staff regarding service requirements
- Monitor food wastage and contribute to effective kitchen cost control measures
- Demonstrate cooking techniques and assist staff with preparation procedures
- Ensure kitchen equipment is operated safely and maintained appropriately
- Store, preserve and rotate food supplies according to safety requirements
- Contribute positively to a cooperative and professional kitchen team workplace Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for the role:
- At least Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or Kitchen Management, or an equivalent recognised hospitality qualification is required.
- Minimum one year of recent experience preparing meals within a busy commercial kitchen or hospitality environment.
- Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene compliance and kitchen cleanliness standards within Australian hospitality operations.
- Ability to coordinate kitchen service efficiently while maintaining consistent food quality and presentation standards.
- Experience planning menus, monitoring stock levels and assisting with kitchen cost control procedures effectively.
- Well-developed communication skills to collaborate professionally with management, kitchen staff and front-of-house employees daily.
- Ability to train junior staff and demonstrate cooking techniques within a fast-paced kitchen environment confidently.
- Capable of working flexible hospitality hours including weekends, evenings and high-volume service periods regularly.
