Overview Full‑time, fixed‑term position for up to 3 years at the Queensland Brain Institute, St Lucia Campus. Base salary ranges from $104,616 – $113,920 (HEW Level 7) plus 17 % superannuation. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and manufacture specialised electronic equipment, PCBs, prototypes and research‑focused engineering systems.
- Collaborate closely with researchers and support staff to deliver end‑to‑end “design and build” solutions that meet complex experimental needs.
- Conduct advanced simulations, feasibility studies and cost calculations.
- Provide fault‑finding and repair services for laboratory equipment.
- Maintain a safe, compliant and high‑functioning electronic workshop, overseeing tools, equipment, risk assessments and safe operating procedures. About You
- Completion of a postgraduate qualification in electronics or a related field, or equivalent experience and training.
- Demonstrated expertise in PCB manufacture, electronic components, hand soldering and surface‑mount soldering.
- Advanced knowledge of design and manufacture of electronic equipment, including firmware development for embedded processors.
- Ability to manage, mentor and develop technical staff within a research or laboratory environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to produce clear technical documentation and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- High level of organisation, attention to detail and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
