About the Company Davidson Technology are working with a State Government Department to a Java Applications Developer to undertake activities relating to the design and development of effective and productive solutions that satisfy the requirements of clients to meet the needs of the department. About the Role As a skilled Java Applications Developer, you'll be responsible for delivering high-quality, scalable solutions that align with business objectives through the analysis, design, and development of new and existing systems. This will involve building applications in line with established standards and best practices, adhering to change and release management processes, and providing ongoing support for in-house custom applications. You'll also resolve application issues, perform regular system maintenance, and offer technical advice on support and enhancements, while maintaining a robust focus on team wellbeing, safety, and effective collaboration. About You To be successful in this role, you'll be an experienced Java Developer with over five years' expertise in enterprise application development, specialising in modern Java ******) and full-stack web technologies. You'll be skilled in building secure, scalable web applications using frameworks such as Spring (including Spring Security), Hibernate/JPA, and JSF (e.g. PrimeFaces), alongside strong front-end capabilities in HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, and jQuery. You will be proficient in development tools and practices including Maven, Git (Bitbucket), IntelliJ/Eclipse, and Atlassian suite (Jira, Confluence), with a solid foundation in Oracle databases (SQL/PLSQL) and application servers such as TomEE/Tomcat. You’ll demonstrate a strong commitment to quality through unit and integration testing (JUnit, Mockito), continuous integration practices, and web testing tools like Selenium, with experience deploying and supporting applications across Unix and Windows environments.
