Insurance Senior Associate (Brisbane) (Brisbane City)

About the role We are seeking an experienced and motivated senior associate to join our highly regarded Brisbane Insurance Team, working within our fast growing general liability practice under Patrick Cavanagh, Partner. This is an exceptional opportunity for a technically strong lawyer who enjoys complex insurance work and is looking to take the next step in a supportive and high performing environment. You will act for domestic and international insurers across a broad range of disputes. The role offers the autonomy to run your own matters while working closely with senior practitioners recognised as leaders in the field. Key responsibilities
- Advise on liability and quantum, indemnity issues and defence strategies, ensuring advice is commercially focused and aligned with client expectations.
- Attend settlement conferences, mediations and court (with and without counsel).
- Manage a varied file load, requiring solid organisational skills and the ability to prioritise effectively.
- Build a deep understanding of client operations and nurture long-term client relationships.
- Contribute to the development of junior lawyers through mentoring and knowledge-sharing. The successful candidate
- 5+ years' PQE with experience in defendant general liability matters.
- Previous exposure to business development and a natural ability to build robust client relationships.
- Ability to manage client expectations and run matters autonomously.
- Interested in establishing a long-term successful career with Colin Biggers & Paisley.
- Ability to relate to people at all levels and effectively work in a team.
- A strong focus on turnaround time.
- Commercial acumen.
- Practical and client focused problem solving skills.
