Senior Mechanical Design Engineer – Mining & Bulk Materials Handling Perth or Brisbane Based | Flexible Working Environment | Long-Term Project Pipeline This is an opportunity to join a highly regarded multidisciplinary engineering consultancy delivering large-scale mining, materials handling, infrastructure and industrial projects across Australia and internationally. About the Role Reporting to the Design Manager, you will play a key role in the delivery of mechanical design packages for bulk materials handling and mining infrastructure projects . The position will involve ownership of mechanical design deliverables from concept and feasibility studies through to detailed design and construction documentation. You will work on large-scale materials handling infrastructure including conveyors, transfer stations, surge bins, crushing systems and associated plant equipment . The role will involve close coordination with structural, civil, process and electrical teams to ensure seamless project integration. Key responsibilities will include:
- 3D modelling and detailed mechanical design
- Development of GA drawings, fabrication drawings and equipment layouts
- Design coordination across multidisciplinary project teams
- Reviewing and checking work produced by junior designers
- Participation in design reviews and technical discussions with clients
- Supporting modular and repeatable design initiatives across projects Skills & Experience Required
- 8+ years’ experience in mechanical design within mining, resources or heavy industry
- Advanced capability with Bentley MicroStation and associated 3D modelling tools
- Experience designing conveyors, transfer chutes, surge bins and crushing infrastructure
- Experience with ProSteel, ProStructures, Plant 3D or AutoCAD Mechanical highly regarded
- Strong understanding of structural steel detailing and plant layouts
- Exposure to greenfield and/or brownfield mining projects
- Ability to operate effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams
