Overview Vestas Australia is again releasing an opportunity for electrical engineers who specialise in Power System Studies to join an amazing and dynamic team. As a Lead Electrical, Grid & EBoP you will be working along the Regional Power Plant Solutions (PPS) technical function team. The role will encompass technical and stakeholder management from presales all the way to service on multiple projects. The Grid team oversees all aspects of the grid during the sales, construction, and service phases of projects throughout the Asia Pacific, with a focus on Australia and New Zealand. Working with a team of engineering experts across the region and various cross‑functional teams, this role delivers competitive and compliant grid solutions and manages grid connection approval, grid compliance, and the balance of plant processes for multiple projects. Responsibilities
- Review Balance of Plant (BoP) design, drawings and document submissions from subcontractors against industry best practice, law, international and local standards, as well as Vestas' contractual and interfacing requirements from the perspective of grid connection.
- Support power system studies to define wind farm generator performance standards and develop the wind farm control system functional design specification and reactive plant requirements. Coordinate activities with the grid modelling department.
- Simulate and model the wind Power Plant including WTG, PV and storage.
- Research and prepare formal responses to inquiries regarding wind farm technical performance, and prepare and deliver technical presentations to customers.
- Ensure grid connection deliverables required by Vestas are submitted in a timely, safe and high‑quality manner.
- Assess performance, efficiency and reliability of the balance of plant systems specific to renewable energy projects.
- Identify and resolve issues and inefficiencies within the balance of plant systems, conducting root cause analysis and coordinating with other teams.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure grid connection issues are resolved promptly.
- Engage and manage consultants when required.
- Attend and contribute to safety, design, technical and risk meetings, workshops and reviews.
- Document and report – maintain accurate records, prepare reports and document all grid connection activities, milestones and outcomes.
- Review grid connection documents. Qualifications
- Electrical engineering (power systems knowledge) with a minimum of 3‑4 years’ experience.
- Registered or Certified Professional Engineer (RPEng or CPEng) preferred.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to identify and solve problems.
- Attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Experience working with international stakeholders.
- Must have experience with PSCAD, PSSe and/or Powerfactory.
- Experience in the electricity generation sector.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and negotiate effectively.
