Salary range: From $96k per annum plus superannuation Department: Organisational Development About the role This is a ground up opportunity to design and establish the Logan City Council Engineering Academy , shaping how Council attracts, supports and develops early career and graduate engineers after university and through structured work integrated learning pathways. As the Tertiary Pathways Officer , you will lead the establishment of Council’s post university and early career engineering pathways from the ground up and remain accountable for the ongoing delivery, evolution and success of the program. This role is about both creation and execution. You will turn strategy into practice, embed the program into Council’s operating model, and continuously refine it as workforce needs evolve. You will design and deliver structured pathways for graduate engineers, postgraduate cohorts and university students undertaking work integrated learning. This includes partnering closely with engineering leaders across Council, building strong relationships with universities, and ensuring pathways are practical, contemporary and aligned to real workforce demand. The role suits someone who enjoys building something meaningful, staying close to delivery, and owning outcomes across the full lifecycle, from concept and design through to implementation, evaluation and continuous improvement. Key indicators
- Design, establish and deliver the Logan City Council Engineering Academy as a sustainable, ongoing early careers program
- Build and deliver structured post university pathways for graduate engineers, postgraduate cohorts and university students through work integrated learning
- Partner closely with engineering leaders across Council to align pathways with real workforce demand and future capability needs
- Develop and maintain strong partnerships with universities and tertiary providers to support placements, graduate intakes and postgraduate programs
- Translate workforce strategy into practical, scalable programs that balance learning outcomes, business needs and candidate experience
- Establish clear program governance, processes, timelines and evaluation measures
- Monitor program performance including attraction, retention, progression, candidate experience and business outcomes
- Use feedback, data and evaluation insights to continuously improve and mature the Engineering Academy
- Act as the primary point of contact for students, graduates, universities and internal stakeholders regarding engineering pathways
- Embed inclusive, safe and supportive learning environments for early career engineers You’ll possess
- Experience designing, building and delivering early career, graduate or tertiary pathways within a complex organisation
- Strong understanding of post university education pathways including graduate engineers, postgraduate study and work integrated learning models
- Contemporary knowledge of engineering disciplines and how different engineering streams operate across large infrastructure organisations
- The ability to work end to end from concept and design through to delivery, evaluation and continuous improvement
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence and collaborate with engineers, leaders and education partners
- Well developed project planning, organisation and delivery capability
- Strong communication skills with a practical, approachable and clear style
- A continuous improvement mindset with the ability to adapt programs as workforce needs evolve
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline or significant experience delivering graduate or tertiary pathway programs Requirements

- $99,995 per annum + superannuation (Level 5.1 – 5.3)
