- High-autonomy role with scope to build systems and influence performance outcomes As a Process Engineer at Visy Pulp and Paper, you will play a key role in supporting mill performance by optimising processes, improving efficiencies, and delivering cost-saving initiatives across a complex, 24/7 manufacturing environment. This role is both operational and strategic
- providing day-to-day support to production while identifying and implementing improvements across process performance, energy usage, and raw material costs. You will also take ownership of critical compliance activities, including environmental and audit readiness, helping to close gaps and build sustainable systems for the future. With robust autonomy, you’ll work closely with operations, engineering, and leadership teams to deliver measurable improvements and long-term value across the site. What you'll do:
- Monitor and optimise process performance, identifying trends, deviations, and improvement opportunities
- Lead cost reduction initiatives across chemicals, energy, and non-production inputs
- Drive energy optimisation and support sustainability initiatives across the mill
- Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and implement solutions to improve reliability and efficiency
- Champion environmental and compliance activities, ensuring audit actions are delivered
- Develop and improve process documentation, systems, and performance reporting tools What You Will Bring:
- Experience in process engineering within heavy industry (e.g. paper, mining, oil & gas, food manufacturing)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability, with a data-driven approach
- Experience with process control systems (DCS, SCADA, PLC) highly regarded
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work autonomously in a fast-paced environment
- Exposure to compliance, environmental, or audit-related activities
