Machine Operator - Guillotine (Brookvale)

About the Business Taylors Doors and Frames is a manufacturer of steel door frames and associated building products. We are looking for a reliable and skilled Guillotine Operator to join our frame manufacturing team. If you have a steady hand, an eye for precision, and a current forklift licence, this is a great opportunity to work with a range of metals. The Role You will be responsible for the accurate cutting of metal materials used in our frame production line. Working with Zinc Anneal, Galvabond, and Stainless Steel in thicknesses from 0.55mm up to 5mm, you will ensure raw materials are cut to exact specifications for punching, welding, folding, and assembly. A current LF Forklift Licence is essential, as you will be moving heavy sheet and coil stock around the factory floor and feeding the guillotine. Key Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and maintain industrial guillotine.
- Cut metal sheets to precise dimensions (length, width, squareness) as per job tickets.
- Handle a variety of materials.
- Use a forklift to unload incoming steel deliveries, transfer stock to storage racks, and stage material for cutting.
- Stack, label, and organise cut pieces for the next stage of frame manufacturing.
- Perform regular quality checks – ensuring clean, burr-free cuts with no distortion.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work area. What We Are Looking For
- Essential: Current LF Forklift Licence (high risk work licence).
- Proven experience operating a guillotine, ideally in a manufacturing or fabrication setting.
- Familiarity with different steel types (Zinc anneal, Galvabond, Stainless) and cutting behaviours.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, cutting lists, or job sheets.
- Strong attention to detail – accuracy to ±0.5mm is expected.
- Physically fit – able to lift and manoeuvre metal sheets safely.
- Reliable, punctual, and safety-focused. Desirable (but not essential)
- Experience with CNC guillotines or programmable back gauges.
- Basic maintenance skills.
- Previous experience in door/window frame manufacturing. What We Offer
