About the role We are looking for a reliable and hard-working General Hand to join our team at Broome Aboriginal Short Stay Accommodation. You’ll play an important role in keeping guest rooms and shared areas clean, tidy, and welcoming for people staying with us. This is a permanent part time position working 55 hours per fortnight. The rostered shifts are 6:00am to 12:00pm on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday. Your day-to-day tasks will include vacuuming, mopping, dusting, cleaning kitchens and bathrooms, making beds, and getting rooms ready for new guests. A key part of the role also involves supporting the day-to-day laundry operations across the accommodation facility. Laundry duties include removing, sorting, washing, drying, folding, and distributing linen to guest units, assisting with making beds, and ensuring all linen is maintained to a high standard. You’ll help keep the laundry area clean, organised, and well stocked, safely operate laundry equipment, follow chemical handling and safety procedures, and report any equipment faults or maintenance issues. You’ll be working with a friendly and supportive team, helping create a safe, comfortable, and respectful place for our guests. About you You’ll have a high level of customer service and attention to detail and excellent customer service skills. You’ll also have strong time management and organisational skills and be able to juggle tasks effectively. In addition, you will also possess:
- Experience in commercial, industrial or domestic cleaning is preferred
- Ability to work with and communicate effectively and sensitively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
- Strong communication skills
