Position Summary We’re looking for an experienced Laboratory Manager to lead a busy metallurgical laboratory in Welshpool. This is a hands‑on leadership role for someone who enjoys managing people, coordinating projects, working closely with clients, and making sure laboratory work is delivered safely, on time and to a high standard. The role will be directly involved with our expansion stage into a new, larger facility located in South Guildford, allowing the new manager to guide the metallurgical laboratory through a growth transition to larger opportunities. Responsibilities
- Lead day‑to‑day laboratory operations, projects and testing programs to meet deadlines, budgets and quality standards.
- Build strong relationships with clients, team members, suppliers and contractors through explicit, regular communication.
- Plan work schedules, equipment use and staffing needs so jobs run smoothly and efficiently.
- Prepare clear quotations and proposals, and keep project scope, timing and costs on track.
- Review technical data and reports, and make sure records are accurate and up to date.
- Monitor project progress, manage variations, and review invoices within agreed timeframes.
- Maintain quality systems, document control and laboratory standards, including reviewing non‑conformance reports.
- Support and develop your team through training, coaching and workforce planning.
- Lead by example in safety, accountability and teamwork, including participating in regular team and safety meetings. Qualifications
- A degree in Extractive Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering or a similar field.
- Strong project management and leadership skills.
- Confidence working across different commodities and processing methods.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, including report writing.
- Strong planning, organisation and time‑management skills.
- Good attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities. Benefits
