**Position Overview**

The Domestic Services Assistant plays a vital role in maintaining a clean, protected, and welcoming environment for residents, staff, and visitors. This position supports daily operations through kitchen assistance, cleaning, and laundry services, ensuring high standards of hygiene, infection control, and resident wellbeing are upheld at all times.

**Key Responsibilities**

Kitchen Duties
- Assist with basic food preparation as directed
- Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen areas, including benches, floors, and appliances
- Follow food safety, hygiene, and infection control procedures
- Assist with meal service and clean-up

Cleaning Duties
- Clean and sanitise resident rooms, bathrooms, communal areas, and offices
- Mop, vacuum, dust, and disinfect surfaces according to schedules
- Handle waste disposal in line with facility policies
- Use cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and correctly
- Report maintenance issues or hazards promptly

Laundry Duties
- Sort, wash, dry, and fold resident and facility laundry
- Label and return resident clothing to correct rooms
- Operate laundry equipment safely
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of laundry areas
- Follow infection control and linen handling procedures

**Essential Skills & Requirements**
- Ability to work in a team and independently
- Good time management and attention to detail
- Understanding of hygiene and infection control practices
- Physically capable of performing cleaning and laundry tasks
- Respectful, compassionate approach when working around residents

**Desirable (but not essential)**
- Previous experience in aged care, hospitality, or cleaning roles
- Food Safety Certificate
- Understanding of workplace health and safety practices

**Job Type**: Casual

Pay: From $33.14 per hour

Expected hours: 10
