Geegeelup is a provider of residential aged care services in Bridgetown, Western Australia. This carer position is integral to the effective and efficient provision of all aspects of care regarding the residents.
We are currently seeking an Aged Carer to join our team at Geegeelup Village. The position is full time, 38 hours per week. For the successful candidate a salary of $70,000 to $75,000 per annum + superannuation will be offered.
Duties of this Position:
All under the direction, supervision and approval of the Clinical Nurse Manager or delegate; Include the following, as required:
• Provide personal care assistance and treatments to residents as per their individual care plan and as directed by CNM/RN/Supervisor/Allied Health Professional
• Work in cooperation with CNM/RN/Supervisor and Allied Health Professionals to meet residents care needs
• Work in cooperation with other carers and assist each other
• Provide residents with discreet assistance to manage their continence and elimination needs
• Demonstrate understanding of skills required for working with elderly people and those with dementia and difficult behaviours
• Consider residents’ needs and personal choices when implementing care with due consideration to Charter of Residents Rights and Responsibilities
• Promote residents to achieve maximum independence, whilst meeting ADL and care needs/preferences with a physical, mental and emotional approach
• Complete all assessments of resident care needs, as directed by the CNM, RN, Supervisor and Allied Health professionals
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all residents’ records
• Maintain iCare records relating to resident care
• Provide appropriate assistance with dietary needs in accordance with the guidelines of Foodsafe training and policies and procedures for service of food to vulnerable persons
• Report all changes to CNM/Supervisor
• Follow duty statement requirements to facilitate continuous team approach to the care provision within the facility
• Demonstrate well developed planning, organisation and time management skills within the scope of the duty statement
• Ensure economic use of resources
• Use a problem-solving approach to providing care and performing duties
• Identify stock or equipment shortages to aid forward purchasing needs
• Promote and support rehabilitation, therapy, leisure and activities programs
• Ensure confidentiality is always maintained
• Ensure the dignity, privacy and confidentiality of Geegeelup’s residents always
• Demonstrate knowledge of, and willingness to work to achieve Outcome Standards for Aged Care
• Familiarise self with and demonstrate knowledge of hostel policies and procedures
• Always demonstrate professionalism and courtesy
• Accept responsibility for own actions
• Attend all meetings and trainings as required
