Tailings Engineer (Shire of Bridgetown-Greenbushes)

Tailings Engineer Greenbushes Lithium Operation, Greenbushes, WA – Full Time Position About the Role This position is responsible for supporting the tailings and water dam teams to ensure the safe and efficient design, operation and monitoring of Tailings Storage Facilities (TSFs) and water dams. The role works closely with operational, environmental and infrastructure teams to deliver cost‑effective, compliant engineering outcomes while maintaining the highest standards of safety and environmental stewardship. Key Responsibilities
- Support the Superintendent TSF & Water, Dams Engineering (RTFE) and Manager Infrastructure Site Services in daily operations and project delivery.
- Assist TSF Operations and Construction Superintendents as required.
- Ensure safe and efficient operation of TSFs and water dams through ongoing technical support and guidance.
- Monitor infrastructure performance and assist with maintenance and safety improvement initiatives.
- Maintain and update the Tailings Development Plan and long‑term project plans.
- Maintain and update the site water balance model.
- Facilitate fortnightly site water meetings when required.
- Assist with investigations related to TSF and water dam safety incidents.
- Monitor activities to ensure compliance with statutory and company standards.
- Assist with technical reviews of audits, monitoring, design and tender documentation.
- Coordinate and oversee contractor investigations, monitoring and construction activities.
- Ensure appropriate safety and hazard controls are implemented before works commence.
- Review and authorise consultant and contractor claims.
- Participate in contractor performance and safety reviews. Qualifications
- Degree in Civil Engineering (Geotechnical) or equivalent engineering qualification.
- Certificate IV in Frontline Management or similar supervisory qualification. Skills & Experience
- Minimum 10 years of relevant industry experience.
- Demonstrated experience in the design, construction and operation of TSFs and water dams.
- Strong understanding of tailings storage facilities, water dams and associated regulations.
- Excellent analytical and technical problem‑solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience working with document control systems and compliance processes.
- Excellent time management and prioritisation skills.
- High attention to detail and professional presentation. Competencies
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, MS Project and AutoCAD.
- Proficient with document control systems.
- Very good understanding of tailings and water dam geotechnical engineering.
- Very good English communication skills, particularly written communication.
- Current C class or higher Driver’s Licence. Benefits
