Description
We are looking for a qualified Chef with expertise in authentic Japanese cuisine needed for weddings and premium events to join our team. We are looking for someone who is fun, outgoing but hard working to lead our kitchen team. Our venue has been strong since 1981. The converted original farmhouse remains true to its beginnings with food grown in the gardens and orchards and is lovingly prepared in the restaurant kitchen. We are looking for someone who has worked in a Michelin restaurant, excellent communication skills with the ability to motivate individuals and teams. To apply you must have a qualification, solid passion for the industry and excellent customer service skills. You will need to have over 5 years’ experience and at least two years specialising in Japanese cuisine and catering for weddings or large-scale events and be able to start immediately. We are offering $80K
- $90K Key Responsibilities;
- Develop customized menus for weddings and events, aligning dishes with client tastes and seasonal ingredients.
- Coordinate culinary operations for receptions and banquets, ensuring smooth collaboration with event staff.
- Lead creative food presentation to match event décor and aesthetics.
- Source unique, high-quality ingredients and maintain authentic flavours.
- Advise specialized kitchen equipment and implement effective setups for events.
- Train staff in food preparation and service to uphold high standards.
- Manage food preparation workflow for multiple events to ensure freshness and quality.
- Supervise staff for proper food handling and presentation during high-volume services.
- Oversee ingredient and equipment selection for daily and event-specific needs.
- Enforce strict kitchen hygiene, health, and safety practices, especially for large functions.
- Work closely with event coordinators to ensure a memorable dining experience for guests. Qualification and Experience:
- Formal culinary qualifications are highly desirable.
- Additional training in Japanese cuisine will be considered favourably.
- Certification of Cooking Skills for Japanese Cuisine.
- Minimum of five years’ experience in a professional kitchen setting, with at least two years specialising in Japanese cuisine and catering for weddings or large-scale events.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a diverse kitchen team, with hands-on experience managing workflow during high-pressure service periods. Selection Criteria:

- Expert in sourcing ingredients, creating seasonal menus, and using specialized equipment.
- Skilled in training staff in advanced culinary and hospitality techniques for events of all sizes.
