We’re looking for an experienced hands on Packaging Supervisor to plan, co-ordinate and execute all work activities and resources necessary for packaging products in accordance with cost, quality, and schedules. Work alongside and drive the team to constantly improve our systems and quality.

**The Role**
- Conduct and meticulously complete Opening and Close Down checklists, implementing corrective actions as necessary to ensure operational compliance.
- Inspect products prior to picking for conformance and wholesomeness, referring any/query products to the manager immediately for further assessment.
- Perform lifting, weighing, labeling, gas flushing, cryovac packaging, and taping of food products, maintaining accurate batch number identification throughout the packaging process.
- Recommend and implement measures to enhance packaging systems, optimize equipment performance, and improve overall packaging quality.
- Participate hands-on in daily packaging activities to support team operations.
- Oversee the packaging team, delegate tasks, and monitor work assignments to optimize packaging efficiency while ensuring the integrity and conformance of all packaged products.
- Establish and communicate ambitious packaging goals to key personnel, develop the packaging schedule, and maintain output volumes in compliance with industry-standard Food Safety guidelines.
- Coordinate the movement of stock from aging/drying areas to the packaging room to facilitate smooth operational flow.
- Provide training to new team members, including inductions as required, and facilitate regular toolbox meetings to promote team development and communication.
- Develop staffing schedules to ensure optimal team coverage, productivity, and alignment with budgetary requirements.
- Maintain and enforce workflow policies that enhance operational efficiency, safety, and product integrity.
- Manage product tracking documentation, oversee stock rotation and movement, and ensure continuous traceability throughout the process.
- Identify upcoming batches, perform quality assessments and product conformance, and complete relevant documentation for products prepared for packaging.
- Manage the testing program, coordinate slicing testing batches, schedule sample dispatches to NATA-approved laboratories, and maintain adherence to the Food Safety Program.
- Oversee stock management and movements through warehousing, ensuring accurate documentation and traceability.
- Conduct efficient and accurate monthly stocktakes.
- Maintain clear communication with warehousing, sales, and production teams regarding current and future stock levels and potential gaps in production schedules.
- Schedule and oversee weekly and monthly cleaning activities in accordance with company policies.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in packaging areas and aging rooms to prevent cross-contamination.
- Work collaboratively with all Salumi employees to maintain a harmonious and productive working setting.

**About YOU**:

- Experience in the food industry, with firm knowledge of food safety, knife skills a bonus
- Experienced team supervisor or manager
- Excellent time management skills with attention to detail
- Proven track record of training in productivity and safety
- Computer skills and experience
- Confident decision making and problem solving skills
- Forklift license preferred
- Attention to detail a must
- Team player with go to attitude

Pay: $65,000.00
- $70,000.00 per year

Work Location: In person
