Are you a Sous Chef with Chinese Cuisine and/or Wok experience? The Chinese cuisine inspired restaurant, Hutong Harrys in Byron Bay, opened in December 2023. It has been the latest star attraction opened by the Far East Company Pty Ltd. 'Hutongs' is now recruiting for a recent leader to compliment the kitchen management of this Byron Bay gem. With a focus on elegant yet informal dining, the restaurant also offers a fully-equipped bar where talented bar tenders whisk up beautifully considered cocktails to funky sounds late into the night. We are seeking a highly skilled chef, with the passion to play a key role in recent menu designs, working in a small kitchen team, and whom can showcase some wonderful flavour profiles. An attractive remuneration will ensure your efforts are proportionally rewarded. The ideal candidate will have 2+ years experience in Chinese cuisine. What you'll be doing
· Assist in leading the kitchen team, including scheduling and training.
· Develop and implement creative, high-quality seasonal dishes that showcase local, fresh produce
· Ensure strict compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations
· Monitor food and labour costs, and implement measures to optimise profitability
· Foster a positive, collaborative, and productive kitchen culture
· Liaise with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service delivery
· Participate in menu tastings and promotional events What we're looking for
· Minimum 3 years of experience as a Sous Chef or in a senior culinary role
· Proven track record of leading and developing high-performing kitchen teams
· Excellent knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and cost control practices
· Strong creativity and flair for designing innovative, seasonal menus
· Passion for using fresh, locally sourced ingredients
· Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
