**_About the opportunity_**

The IFYS Child Protection Residential Care Programs support children and young people needing a safe, dependable, and nurturing living environment. Reporting to the Case Manager, Residential Youth Workers deliver the day-to-day care to young people in the Residential Care house.

A day in the role of a Residential Youth Worker may include supporting young people to manage challenging behaviours, planning or attending activities and following daily routines to promote life-skills development. Residential Youth Workers complete case notes and admin tasks daily as well as helping to maintain a clean and safe environment.

**_ Key responsibilities_**
- Provide a secure and therapeutic environment for young people to grow and learn
- Support and manage young people’s complex and challenging behaviours in a consistent and calm manner
- Build rapport and remain non-judgmental whilst maintaining professional boundaries
- Plan individual and group activities to meet the young people’s needs and goals in line with Case Plans
- Use daily routines to provide hands on training of life skills such as cooking, budgeting, and personal care
- Timely and accurate completion of administrative duties including petty cash, case notes, and incident reports
- Transport clients to school, work, appointments and other commitments

**_ Essential requirements_**
- A QLD Working With Children Blue Card or have applied for one
- Current Queensland driver’s license with no restrictions
- Ability to provide two references from recent employers (including your current line manager)
- Already hold or are enrolled in a Certificate IV or higher in a relevant field prior to commencing work (IFYS can provide advice/more information on this)
- Availability for a variety of different shifts over a fortnightly roster (day/evening/sleepover/weekend)
- As part of our recruitment process, we do a number of history screenings including a Licensed Care Suitability check (LCS2) and a National Crime Check
