The Trustee for DANG FAMILY TRUST ABOUT US: The Taste Italian Grill Campbelltown (The Trustee for DANG FAMILY TRUST) is a family-friendly Italian restaurant located in Campbelltown NSW 2560, offering a generous selection of Italian classics, grilled specialties, seafood, and casual dining favourites. Our menu brings together freshly prepared pasta, risotto, pizza, steaks, ribs, lamb shank, grilled chicken, barramundi, lobster, salads, burgers, desserts, and dedicated kids’ meals. ABOUT THE POSITION: We are seeking a passionate and reliable Cook to join our kitchen team on a full-time basis, working 38 hours per week. The successful candidate will support the day-to-day preparation and cooking of our Italian-style and grill menu items, while maintaining consistent food quality, presentation, hygiene, and service standards. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Check ingredients before use to ensure they are fresh, suitable, and of good quality, including meat, seafood, poultry, vegetables, pasta, pizza ingredients, sauces, herbs, and garnishes. Complete daily mise en place so ingredients, sauces, sides, and garnishes are ready before service. Prepare sauces, dressings, sides, and garnishes required for daily service, including Napolitana sauce, Boscaiola sauce, mushroom sauce, caper butter salsa, aioli, salad dressings, chips, mash, and vegetables. Marinate, season, and flavour food during preparation and cooking to ensure consistent taste and quality. Prepare and cook a range of Italian-style dishes and grill menu items, such as bruschetta, garlic bread, arancini, meatballs, calamari, mussels, pasta, risotto, pizza, grilled chicken, steaks, beef ribs, lamb shank, barramundi, lobster, and seafood platters. Use appropriate cooking methods such as grilling, baking, frying, sautéing, simmering, boiling, roasting, and slow cooking. Operate kitchen equipment safely and correctly, including ovens, grills, fryers, stoves, cooktops, and pizza ovens. Prepare meals according to customer requests and available dietary options, including gluten-free and vegetarian dishes. Portion, plate, and present meals neatly and consistently, following the restaurant’s portion and presentation standards. Work with chefs, junior kitchen staff, and front-of-house staff during service to ensure meals are prepared accurately and on time. Maintain clean, hygienic, and organised workstations, equipment, utensils, and food preparation areas in accordance with food safety standards. Follow food safety and hygiene procedures, including safe food handling, temperature checks, prevention of cross-contamination, and cleaning schedules. Check the quality and quantity of ingredients upon delivery, and store them promptly and correctly. Store raw and prepared food safely in cool rooms, freezers, preparation fridges, and dry storage areas. Monitor stock levels, rotate stock, check expiry dates, label food correctly, and report shortages or quality issues. Assist with estimating daily food preparation and ingredient requirements based on bookings, service levels, and menu demand. Assist the Chef with menu development, recipe testing, and experimenting with new dishes, ingredients, sauces, and cooking methods to support seasonal specials and menu improvements. Assist with training junior kitchen staff in food preparation, cooking procedures, plating standards, hygiene procedures, stock handling, and secure equipment use. Report food quality issues, equipment faults, stock shortages, hygiene concerns, or safety hazards to the Head Chef or venue management. Perform other duties as reasonably required. QUALIFICATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Relevant qualification in Commercial Cookery, Kitchen Operations, Hospitality, or a related field. Previous experience working as a Cook or in a similar kitchen role, preferably in a restaurant, Italian dining, grill, seafood, or busy casual dining environment. Good practical knowledge of food preparation, cooking methods, portioning, plating, and kitchen workflow. Ability to prepare and cook a variety of menu items consistently and efficiently during busy service periods. Good understanding of food safety, hygiene, sanitation, stock rotation, and safe food storage procedures. Ability to operate commercial kitchen equipment safely and correctly.
