**About the Opportunity**
We are seeking an experienced **Network Technician** to support, maintain, and enhance the Department’s enterprise network infrastructure. You will play a critical role in delivering secure, reliable connectivity across a complex ICT environment that supports national initiatives in energy, environment, and climate policy.
This is a hands‑on role suited to someone with strong diagnostic skills, multi‑vendor networking experience, and the ability to work in a hybrid environment. Interstate applicants are welcome, with preference for ACT‑based c
**Key Responsibilities**
As the Network Technician, you will:
- Provide operational support for LAN, WAN, and Wireless networks to agreed service levels.
- Install, configure, and maintain network infrastructure and hardware.
- Troubleshoot and resolve network incidents using structured methodologies (e.g., OSI model).
- Assist in the provisioning and management of new network connections.
- Support third‑party data services to ensure contractual SLAs are met.
- Maintain accurate documentation including network diagrams, IPAM, SOPs, and As‑Built documentation.
- Contribute to operational and project-based networking tasks across wired and wireless environments.
**Requirements**: **Technical Skills & Experience**:
- Supporting enterprise LAN/WAN/Wireless infrastructures.
- Configuring and maintaining routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points (Juniper, Cisco, HP).
- Working within multi‑vendor network environments.
- Using network monitoring tools such as **SolarWinds, Nagios, and CheckMK**.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting capability.
- Explicit communication and the ability to manage competing priorities.
**Desirable Qualifications**:
- 5+ years’ experience in a Network Technician role.
- Prior experience in enterprise LAN/WAN maintenance.
- Certifications such as **CompTIA Network+**, **CCNA**, or **CompTIA A+**.
