**Who we are** The **Residues and Food Branch** is responsible for regulation, policy development, and implementation of dairy, fish and egg exporters, organic exports, the exports of non-prescribed food and animal by-products, and imported food controls (food safety). This includes the development of legislation, operational policy and guidelines, instructional material, technical training (and its delivery), reporting and engagement of industry and government stakeholders. The branch is also responsible for the National Residue Survey which conducts animal and plant residue testing for participating industries
- a critical component underpinning Australia’s favourable market access arrangement.
The branch is also responsible for the **National Residue Survey (NRS)** which conducts animal and plant residue testing for participating industries. The NRS assists with the maintenance of market access for participating industries through activities such as the development and implementation of residue monitoring programs, testing services, providing policy and scientific advice on related issues and providing support in the resolution of trade issues. NRS manages monitoring programs for a range of animal and plant industries.
**The Job** The **Central Receival and Dispatch (CRAD)**team plays a pivotal role in supporting the NRS daily by delivering efficient and effective services to the NRS Animal, Plant, Residue Chemistry & Laboratory Performance Evaluation teams and external stakeholders. As the CRAD/Program Officer, the successful applicant will be required to manage the daily operations of CRAD by undertaking task including, but not limited to:
- Opening boxes of samples, processing animal samples, organising batches, preparations for dispatch and all administrative actions and reporting required.
- Strapping box and sampling equipment packs for dispatching, taking deliveries, monthly stock inventories and all administrative actions and reporting required.
- Providing effective stakeholder engagement, including liaising with staff and laboratories to resolve issues with samples and contactors regarding a range of facility matters.
- Participation in shared tasks including remotely guided sample collections with external stakeholders for various NRS programs.
- Monitoring of NRS program efficacy and monthly deliverables.
- Management of CRAD stock levels, ordering supplies and distribution of equipment to stakeholders.
- Office administration, work projects and reporting requirements, including but not limited to work/task schedule reporting, non-conformance reporting, monthly program reporting and performance management reporting.
- Assisting with the development, implementation and ongoing adherence to CRAD processes and procedures.
- Other ad hoc administrative duties as instructed by the supervisor and the management duties as required.
**Please note**that the merit pool established through this selection process, which is valid for a period of eighteen months from the date the vacancy was advertised in the Public Service Gazette, may also be used to fill future ongoing vacancies in the branch where the duties are of a similar nature.
**What are we looking for** **knowledge and experience**
- Experience in managing a facility and working autonomously.
- High level of stakeholder engagement experience.
**The successful applicant must**:
- Q fever vaccination
- Is Q fever vaccinated or willing to receive the Q fever vaccination.
- Manual handing
- Physical capacity to perform a range of duties including, but not limited to pulling, pushing, bending and lifting. A medical assessment to determine fitness for duty will be required prior to appointment.
