As our business continues to grow, we are seeking an Electrical Design & CAD Draftsman to join our engineering team in Canberra. Previous experience in electrical design, control systems, or switchboard design is essential and will be a key requirement for success in this role. About the Role

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the design and delivery of electrical control systems, switchboards, and building automation projects. You will be responsible for producing high-quality technical drawings and documentation that support manufacturing, installation, commissioning, and project delivery activities. This is a hands-on role that offers exposure to a wide range of projects and technologies, with genuine opportunities for professional development and career progression within a growing business. Key Responsibilities

- Develop electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, single-line diagrams, panel layouts, and control drawings using AutoCAD.
- Prepare bills of materials (BOMs) and project documentation.
- Interpret engineering concepts, technical specifications, and client requirements to produce accurate design documentation.
- Assist with the design and documentation of switchboards, control systems, and building automation solutions.
- Review manufacturer specifications and integrate component information into project drawings.
- Manage drawing revisions, engineering changes, and as-built documentation.
- Ensure all documentation complies with Australian Standards and company engineering standards.
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, electricians, workshop personnel, and commissioning teams throughout project delivery.
- Conduct quality reviews to ensure accuracy and completeness of drawings before issue. About You

You are a detail-oriented drafting professional who enjoys solving technical problems and producing high-quality work. You have a strong understanding of electrical systems and are comfortable working within a collaborative engineering environment. Skills & Experience

- Advanced AutoCAD experience is essential.
- Strong understanding of electrical schematics, control systems, and switchboard design.
- Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and engineering documentation.
- Experience producing electrical drawings for manufacturing, construction, or industrial projects.
- High level of attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities. Highly Regarded

- Experience with EPLAN, SolidWorks Electrical, Revit, or similar design software.
- Exposure to Building Management Systems (BMS), industrial automation, PLCs, or control systems.
- Electrical trade qualification, engineering qualification, or drafting certification.
- Experience within switchboard manufacturing, controls, automation, or electrical contracting environments.
