About Sunny Homes Sunny Homes is an award-winning residential builder specialising in premium custom homes, knockdown rebuilds, display homes, and architecturally designed projects across ACT and NSW. With a strong reputation for quality workmanship, innovation, and attention to detail, we are seeking an experienced and technically strong Construction Technical Manager to join our growing team. About the Role This is a key senior role within the business responsible for reviewing, coordinating, and managing technical aspects of residential construction projects before and during construction. The successful candidate will work closely with architects, engineers, certifiers, draftspeople, supervisors, and management to ensure all projects are structurally coordinated, compliant, practical to build, and delivered to a high standard. This role is ideal for someone with strong technical knowledge of residential construction, structural systems, and Australian building standards. Key Responsibilities
- Review and cross-check architectural, structural, and engineering drawings
- Identify design clashes, buildability issues, and construction risks prior to site commencement
- Coordinate with structural engineers, certifiers, architects, and consultants
- Assist site supervisors with technical construction queries
- Review footing systems, retaining walls, steelwork, trusses, AAC/Hebel systems, and complex structural details
- Ensure projects comply with NCC, Australian Standards, and engineering requirements
- Provide technical support throughout pre-construction and construction stages
- Review variations and technical changes during construction
- Assist with quality assurance and internal compliance systems
- Conduct site inspections where required
- Improve internal technical processes, documentation, and construction systems
- Support the delivery of high-quality custom homes and complex residential projects Skills & Experience
- Minimum 5+ years experience in residential construction, structural drafting, engineering coordination, or construction management
- Strong understanding of residential structural systems and construction methods
- Experience reading and interpreting architectural and structural drawings
- Knowledge of Australian Standards and NCC requirements
- Experience with:
- Timber & steel framing
- Slab and footing systems
- Retaining walls
- Hebel/AAC systems
- Waterproofing and structural detailing
- Custom homes and sloping sites
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- High attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Experience with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Revit, or similar software highly regarded What We Offer
