**About the Role**: **Can you picture yourself joining a positive and progressive team of Exercise Physiologists, striving to deliver best outcomes within a public health setting to those who need it most? If so, read on.
You’ll be working at The Canberra Hospital, which is a modern 600-bed tertiary hospital, with teaching and research as a focus. This is one of the sole hospitals within Australia that has a dedicated Exercise Physiology Department, and we have fantastic opportunities to provide value as a workforce.
Your immediate clinical colleagues include a team of 7 Exercise Physiologists and an Allied Health Assistant. Our team provide care for inpatients admitted to acute and sub-acute wards, in additional to several outpatient programs. You would oversee a varied caseload with rewarding outcomes, whilst receiving support to grow and develop.
Within our department, and our multi-disciplinary teams, we provide Exercise Physiology assessment and intervention for:
- Admitted hospital patients to improve function and discharge opportunities, reduce impacts of hospital acquired deconditioning and embed behaviours for future health outcomes
- Outpatients that require support to continue accessing their acute treatments such as ‘Prehabilitation’ to optimise surgical outcomes and recovery for frail individuals in selected major surgery pathways, patients on active chemotherapy and radiation therapy, selected transplant lists such as kidneys or stem cell transplants, and more
- Multidisciplinary outpatient Cardiac Rehabilitation and Heart Failure Rehabilitation programs
