**Who we are** The Communication and Media Branch delivers internal and corporate communication and strategic communication activities in support of the department and our ministers, for the benefit of the Australian community. This includes managing the department’s social media strategy and social media presence, media support services across the department and for our ministers’ offices, production services including graphic design and branding, Web publishing for external-facing departmental websites, and the development of campaign and non-campaign materials.
The Digital, Design and Editing Section are a multidisciplinary team of creative thinkers, designers, writers and digital specialists. We believe in the power of connecting user needs with departmental objectives through the delivery of explicit, concise and task-focused communication products.
**The Job** The duties of the Web Publishing Officer’s role include:
- providing timely and accessible mark-up and maintenance of content for Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry websites using the web content management system (GovCMS
- Drupal)
- assisting in the collection and analysis of web metrics, seeking opportunities to expand the team’s data analytics capability and developing strategies for a cycle of constant, informed improvement
- assisting with regular website maintenance activities, e.g. broken link reports
- participating in multi-disciplinary team-based project work and providing advice on project-based work
- providing advice on best practice information management and publishing workflows, data analysis and reporting, user research activities, content analysis and project management.
**Please note** that this position may be filled on either an ongoing or non-ongoing basis. If an offer of non-ongoing employment is made, the successful applicant would be employed for an initial period of eighteen months with the possibility of extension up to a maximum period of two years in total. The merit pool established through this selection process, which is valid for a period of eighteen months from the date the vacancy was advertised in the Public Service Gazette, may also be used to fill future ongoing and non-ongoing vacancies in the branch where the duties are of a similar nature.
**What we are looking for** **Knowledge and experience**
- A minimum 3 years' web publishing experience.
- Technically proficient in the coding of HTML and publishing in a content management system (CMS) in accordance with current government standards.
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite programs and content management programs.
