Job Description The Head of Security is a senior security leadership role responsible for driving strategic security adoption across the Australia and New Zealand public sector portfolio. This includes Federal Government, National Security, Defence, Healthcare and Life Sciences, Education and Research, and State and Local Government segments. The role combines deep cross-sector security expertise with strong business development and go‑to‑market capability to enable secure, scalable technology adoption. Working across technical, regulatory and executive stakeholders, the position architects and executes security strategies that support both market creation and market scaling across sectors with varying maturity levels. Duties and Responsibilities
- Drive security adoption strategies across all public sector segments
- Develop sector-specific security frameworks and adoption patterns
- Navigate diverse regulatory requirements including ISM, NZISM, IRAP, Essential Eight, healthcare privacy requirements, education security frameworks and state‑based security models
- Enable security modernisation across federal, state and local government
- Develop and implement sector‑specific security frameworks aligned to regulatory and compliance requirements
- Design and guide secure, scalable security architectures across multiple jurisdictions
- Create and execute security‑focused go‑to‑market and adoption programmes
- Collaborate with regulators, government agencies and industry bodies to influence security standards and alignment
- Drive cross‑sector security modernisation initiatives and scalable implementation patterns Knowledge/Skills required
- 7+ years’ experience developing, negotiating and executing business agreements
- 7+ years’ experience in business development, partnership management or sourcing recent business
- 7+ years’ skilled or military experience
- Demonstrated experience developing and executing large‑scale go‑to‑market strategies
- Strong understanding of public sector regulatory, compliance and security frameworks
- Experience producing technical written content, presenting at conferences and contributing to industry knowledge initiatives
- Exposure to developing, deploying or managing advanced technology solutions at scale is desirable
