About the role Secure Bits is seeking an experienced and hands‑on Production Team Lead to help us lead the day‑to‑day operations within a busy Advanced Manufacturing Division. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys leading from the front — balancing people leadership, production coordination and hands‑on workshop activity. You will support the delivery of projects across Defence, Critical Infrastructure and emerging technology sectors while helping shape and develop the next generation of leaders within our Production team. You will work closely with other team members including engineers, project staff and senior leadership to ensure work is delivered safely, efficiently and to high quality. This role will initially have a strong focus on delivering and supporting our environment customers (smart bin technology and smart beehive technology), while also helping drive and improve quality, processes and team development. What are we looking for? We’re looking for someone who enjoys variety, takes ownership, and can help keep people, priorities and production moving in the right direction. This role will suit someone who is practical, organised and comfortable balancing leadership responsibilities with day‑to‑day workshop activities.
- Have 3+ years’ experience in a Team Lead, Leading Hand, Supervisor or similar role within manufacturing, assembly or workshop environments
- Have experience coordinating people, workloads and day‑to‑day production activities
- Understand the importance of quality processes , procedures and getting things right the first time (ISO 9001 experience would be highly regarded)
- Can identify issues early and work through practical solutions before they become bigger problems
- Enjoy mentoring others and helping less experienced team members develop and succeed
- Can adapt quickly when priorities shift and remain calm when things get busy
- Are comfortable working across a mix of planning, coordination and hands‑on work activities
- Communicate well and build positive relationships across teams
- Like taking ownership and seeing work through to completion
- Experience in Defence, electronics assembly, fabrication, prototyping or low‑volume/high‑complexity manufacturing environments would be viewed favourably What desirable attributes should you have?

- Ability to obtain an AGSVA Security Clearance Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate day‑to‑day Production and Assembly activities
- Support delivery of specified manufacturing projects, including working with the end customer
- Mentor and develop Production team members
- Allocate work, monitor progress and help remove roadblocks
- Maintain strong quality standards and ensure procedures are followed
- Identify opportunities to improve safety, efficiency and workflow
- Support onboarding and development of newer team members
- Work closely with Engineering, Projects and leadership teams to deliver outcomes
- Contribute hands‑on within the workshop where required This role is based in our Canberra production and manufacturing environment, with work currently undertaken across our Symonston and Fyshwick sites. Secure Bits is investing heavily in sovereign manufacturing capability, including the development of a first‑class advanced manufacturing facility in Canberra. - Working in workshop, production, warehouse and assembly environments
- Supporting hands‑on manufacturing and assembly activities
- Use of hand tools, equipment, production systems and work instructions
- Manual handling and adherence to PPE and WHS requirements
