Join a specialised maritime engineering team supporting delivery of a critical project.
Play a key role in developing and managing requirements for complex maritime platform engineering.
Opportunity to work on high‑impact projects alongside experienced engineers across multiple disciplines.
Your New Role and Responsibilities
Assess and advise on mechanical system capability and key technical risks, including suitability of system characteristics and performance, and contribute to safety and supportability aspects of the program.
Review technical deliverables from the project’s Head Contractor, including system documentation, operating procedures, schematics and design calculations, applying mechanical systems engineering principles, techniques, procedures and criteria for naval ship designs.
Engage with combat system delivery participants to address provision of combat system platform support requirements and establish the associated mechanical interfaces.
Review and provide guidance on compliance with classification society rule sets and codes.
Mentor and share experience and lessons with project team personnel to advance mechanical engineering skills and knowledge within the project’s technical team.
What You’ll Bring to Make an Impact
Degree‑qualified mechanical or marine systems engineer with strong knowledge and experience in marine mechanical systems.
Strong communication skills, including the ability to engage with senior stakeholders and decision authorities, and explain complex positions and issues concisely.
Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor and share experience and lessons with project team members to build mechanical engineering skills and capability within the team.
Strong knowledge and experience in naval ship mechanical systems.
Experience in the design and specification of marine mechanical and auxiliary systems, including cooling systems.
Qualifications
Australian citizen and willing to obtain and hold an NV‑1 or greater security clearance.
