A large Commonwealth Government agency is seeking an experienced and motivated HR Officer to support recruitment and HR administration functions within a fast‑paced People & Culture environment. About the Role Reporting to the Manager, Talent Acquisition, the HR Officer will support end‑to‑end recruitment activities and provide high‑quality HR administration services. The role will work closely with hiring managers, candidates and internal stakeholders to ensure recruitment and onboarding processes are delivered efficiently, professionally and in accordance with APS legislation, policies and merit principles. Recruitment Support
- Prepare and publish job advertisements in line with organisational and APS requirements
- Coordinate recruitment activities including interview scheduling, panel support and candidate communication
- Assist with shortlisting activities, eligibility checks and recruitment documentation
- Support merit‑based assessment activities including referee checks and selection documentation
- Monitor recruitment progress and maintain accurate status reporting for stakeholders
- Prepare interview packs, recruitment reports, offers and related documentation
- Maintain recruitment records and files in accordance with privacy, audit and compliance requirements
- Manage recruitment inboxes and respond to candidate and stakeholder enquiries in a timely manner Pre‑Employment Screening
- Coordinate pre‑employment screening activities including police checks, security clearances and identity verification
- Monitor screening progress and follow up outstanding documentation with candidates and providers
- Maintain accurate records within HR systems and ensure compliance with policy and privacy obligations Onboarding & HR Administration
- Prepare letters of offer and onboarding documentation
- Liaise with candidates and internal stakeholders regarding commencement arrangements and system access
- Ensure onboarding activities are completed within required timeframes
- Maintain accurate HR records and employee data integrity
- Support the processing of labour hire engagements, non‑ongoing contracts and section 26 transfers
- Provide general HR administrative support across People & Culture functions Key Qualifications
- Experience supporting recruitment and HR administration processes
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
- High attention to detail and accuracy in administrative tasks and record management
- Well‑developed written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to build positive working relationships with stakeholders at all levels
- Experience working with HR systems, recruitment platforms and Microsoft Office Suite
- Understanding of APS recruitment principles, merit‑based processes and confidentiality requirements
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment Desirable Experience
- Previous APS or government recruitment experience
- Experience coordinating onboarding and pre‑employment screening processes
- Familiarity with HR information systems and records management practices Benefits
