About the Department of Parliamentary Services The Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) supports the functions of the Australian Parliament through professional services, advice and facilities. With over 1,000 employees, DPS delivers security, broadcasting, library research, catering, visitor experience, art collections, building maintenance, IT, and corporate administration. Job Overview The Visitor Engagement team provides world‑class customer service to visitors of Australian Parliament House. We are looking to fill several part‑time, sessional or casual positions for weekday operations during Parliamentary Sitting periods. The role typically involves four days a week over about eighteen sitting weeks a year, with shifts that may start as early as 6am or end as late as 8pm. Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional customer service and support to parliamentarians, staff, visitors, dignitaries, and school students from entrance to exit.
- Perform concierge tasks including guest pass issuance, lost property support, cloaking, and provisioning of school hospitality.
- Obtain and maintain a current Working with Vulnerable People card (WWVP).
- Be capable of walking and standing on a range of surfaces.
- Engage in extended periods of speaking and interacting with the public and building occupants.
- Work weekdays during Parliamentary Sitting periods. Qualifications
