Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Canberra)

Infrastructure Engineers are responsible for implementing, managing, and retiring infrastructure that supports digital services, including physical, virtual, networking, and cloud environments. The Infrastructure Engineering Expert – Windows Operating System takes operational ownership of infrastructure provisioning across networks, desktops, servers, and other hardware, along with backup, restore, and storage processes. A key focus of the role is designing, building, and supporting a modern Windows Standard Operating Environment (SOE), leveraging the latest deployment and security technologies across data centers, servers, networks, and shared service environments. This role also involves evaluating, recommending, and deploying hardware and related software assets, as well as managing infrastructure-related incidents and problems. The engineer is expected to resolve complex technical issues and ensure the reliability and performance of the overall infrastructure environment Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain and support Microsoft infrastructure environments across multiple systems and platforms.
- Provide technical support for project activities, including build, testing, and solution deployment.
- Schedule and perform regular maintenance, patching, and updates for supported systems and products.
- Carry out technical operations for ICT solutions, maintain system information in service management tools, and produce technical and corporate documentation.
- Support the development and execution of backup and disaster recovery plans.
- Perform problem management activities, including root cause analysis and resolution of issues.
- Escalate issues that may impact policy, system performance, or service delivery.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve technical issues and ensure timely and effective implementation of solutions. Knowledge / Qualifications
- Relevant technical qualifications or equivalent practical experience in infrastructure engineering or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in Microsoft infrastructure technologies and environments.
- Understanding of backup, recovery, and disaster recovery practices.
- Experience with system monitoring, incident management, and service management tools.
- Ability to produce transparent technical documentation and maintain accurate system records. Technical skills Microsoft Windows Operating Systems Other Important Information:
