The Opportunity
We're looking for a skilled telecommunications professional to join our team as a Training Instructor, delivering Open Registration cabling and fibre training programs. This is a rare prospect to combine your trade expertise with a rewarding career in education — passing your skills on to the next generation of telecommunications technicians.
Responsibilities
Deliver nationally recognised training in Open Registration cabling, structured cabling, and optical fibre installation and splicing
Assess student competency against AQF and industry standards
Develop and maintain practical training environments and infrastructure
Identify learner needs and provide tailored support throughout training
Evaluate training effectiveness and provide feedback to the resource development team
Stay current with industry standards, technology changes, and regulatory requirements including ACMA and AS/CA standards
Maintain your own licences, registrations, and industry currency
Requirements
Hands-on experience in structured cabling (copper and fibre), including installation, testing, and splicing
TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
Demonstrated experience in training, mentoring, or coaching others in a trade or technical setting
Solid communication skills — able to explain technical concepts clearly to learners at all levels
Experience delivering training in a formal VET or RTO setting
Familiarity with AQF competency-based assessment
Knowledge of current ACMA registration requirements and AS/CA cabling standards
Experience with fibre splicing, OTDR testing, and NBN infrastructure
